I want to encourage people to experience feelings and memories that they have lost touch within the course of their lives. If for one moment in an individual’s day they can step away from the confines of the structure of their life and indulge their eyes and minds in a work of art, perhaps they can reconnect with a part of themselves or of the world that might otherwise be forgotten.
Sometimes what a person wants or needs to connect with is outside of the realm of what is typically considered beautiful, but it is my hope that one who finds themselves feeling this way can see beauty in their own way in my work. At times, an individual needs to investigate turmoil, at times serenity and simplicity and just as much, at times we all need levity.
I strive to investigate these notions and often I find them to co-mingle in my mind and in my work. I am not concerned with developing a personal style as I need to feel free to follow the ______ where ever it leads me and to be open to the need to improvise and discover. Style is the product of an individual being true to his or her self.
The truth is I love simple beauty, never rivaling nature (as I believe this to be impossible) but finding my own nature and recognizing it to be real and true and pure, and worth experiencing.
