Clara Berta and the mysterious journey
Clara Berta recounts the abstract as a mysterious journey and somewhere along the route, she found magic–Magical Discovery. Instantly one is transported between the whimsical chorus and composition of “The Lovin’ Spoonful – Do You Believe In Magic”. Well, do you?
Berta believes it is delicately created through the simplicity, minimalism, and freedom of open space. Is manifested between the movements of the canvas while the paint and water dance and choose their own direction. It is created in a delicate balance and is absolutely created from the vastness of the ocean that inspires her works for its changings and its reflective nature.
The magic made may appear quick without time-lapse but Berta explains her process as one that is meticulous and slow yet encapsulates her very energy and emotion. Magic does much the same, pulling into it the emotions, wishes, and mystery while captivating as only it can, much like Magical Discovery. It bursts with possibility and hope with the prospect that beauty is everywhere if only we look for her. The most enlightening characteristic of magic is that it is unpredictable just like Berta’s definition of the abstract work she creates.
“Abstract painting is a mysterious journey. From the initial inspiration to the final work, I can never predict the steps in the process or the final image.”–Clara Berta
