Is the concept of home a feeling or a place?
Because it is understood that humans are creatures of habit, the state of a person’s home has been known to physiologically influence their behavior, emotions, and overall mental health. Moving or changing physical surroundings can alter one’s outlook but maybe not as much as significant events like losing a parent, or becoming empty-nested. Regardless of the why homes change, all of it makes us question what is HOME?
This show explores the concept of what HOME means using photography as the medium enabling each artist to capture an instant that we can hold onto forever and sustain regardless of how, where and with whom we physically reside.
These photographs provide truthful intimate glimpses into what the artists deem important and personal in their concept of home and can trigger self-reflection and thoughts about who we are or used to be.
