Meet Luisa Mesa.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Luisa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Since childhood, I was always creative and artistic, but for years I made a living in the business world. At one point, I made the decision to seriously pursue art and went back to school. For the first two years, I attended MDC Wolfson Campus and later transferred to Florida International University, where I earned my BFA, Magna Cum Laude.
While pursuing my degree, I was a resident artist at The Bakehouse Art Complex and shortly after graduating from FIU, I was juried into Art Center South Florida, now Oolite Arts. After leaving Art Center, I briefly rented a warehouse studio space in the Bird Road Art District and later decided that I wanted to work from home. Three years ago, my husband and I bought a property in Redland, Florida – an agricultural community close to Homestead and Key Largo – where I have plenty of space to create. My work is in collections such as Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Morgan Stanley, The Four Seasons Dubai, Levine Children’s Hospital, Sloan Kettering, among others.
