MORGAN ROBINSON

I am an artist and designer based in Stillwater, Oklahoma working primarily with wood and metal. I received my BFA in sculpture from the University of Central Oklahoma. Following my Bachelor’s degree, I worked as a custom cabinet maker for five years where I refined my mechanical skills. I decided to further develope my technique by traveling to Japan to learn centuries-old traditional wood working methods. I have since started my studio to focus on art and design with an emphasis on merging eastern philosophies of minimalism and sculptural form into a beautiful, but functional, artistic statement.

My works take inspiration from the potential of organic shapes, forms, and entities to invite inquiry and fascination. Once an intriguing shape captures my attention I record it in a sketch and explore its potential to be developed into a sculpture or piece of design. Eventually, I express the shape to be realized with wood and metal in such a way that chords a feeling in which words cannot convey.
